Will Smith gets replaced by English actor in "The Suicide Squad"

There's also good news for Harley Quinn fans.

7 Mar - Less than a week after it was announced that Will Smith will not be back as Deadshot in "The Suicide Squad", another actor has been cast to replace him in the sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Idris Elba met with director James Gunn last Friday to discuss the offer.

The English actor is reportedly the first and only choice for the director and Warner Bros., who are now in the casting stage of the sequel.

Since it also doubles as a soft reboot of "Suicide Squad", with Gunn using mostly DC characters that did not appear in the 2016 movie, the cast is expected to feature plenty of new faces.

Meanwhile, Idris Elba will first hone his villain skills (useful for being an anti-hero)
in "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw".

Surprisingly, one familiar face that fans might be seeing again is Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

The actress was the first to be reported as no longer being involved in the sequel but latest update revealed that she might return after all, since it was reported that Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Rick Flagg are some of the characters expected to be seen in "The Suicide Squad".

No word on whether Joel Kinnaman will reprise the role if Flagg does return but Robbie will likely be back as Harley Quinn since she's signed on to play the character for several movies.

Well, for now fans can only sit back and wait till "The Suicide Squad" opens in cinemas on 6 August 2021.
