11 Apr - Seeing that the live-action remakes of its animated films have garnered mostly positive reactions and raked up massive collections at the box office, Disney is now working on remaking "Robin Hood" next.

The 1973 musical comedy classic will be getting a live-action/CGI remake, similar to what was done with "The Jungle Book" and "Dumbo", according to Variety.

The animated film, starring anthropomorphic animals, follows Robin Hood's adventures in his fight against Prince John.

Since all stages of film productions are currently halted due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, not much has been laid out for the project. Prior to the temporary shutdown, the studio managed to close the deal in early March with "Blindspotting" director Carlos Lopez Estrada to helm the movie.

Kari Granlund will be writing the script. She previously penned the 2019 live-action adaptation of "Lady and the Tramp", the first Disney remake to be released on streaming platform Disney+ instead of in cinemas.

Similarly, "Robin Hood", to be produced by Justin Springer who also worked on last year's "Dumbo", will not be getting a theatrical release.

It will be released on Disney+, though a date has yet to be set.
