Rumours of Henry Cavill's return as Superman in new movies started circulating back in May.

18 Sep – Henry Cavill and his fans have never given up hope on him returning to play Superman in more movies one day and looks like their wish is really materialising.

Following rumours back in May that the 37-year-old might be donning the red cape again, it's now reported by The Cultured Nerd and DCUNews that Cavill has indeed signed a new contract for appearances in future DC movies.

Reportedly, the new deal entails his involvement in up to five or six movies. Three of the movies will focus solely on Superman, while the remaining will feature only his cameo appearances.

The three main movies will be based on Cavill's new Superman project that the actor recently pitched to Warner Bros.

The pitch was widely praised, which reportedly led to the official confirmation of Cavill's return as the superhero he first played in 2013's "Man of Steel".

The actor reprised the role two more times, in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and 2017's "Justice League", before his departure from DC movies was announced in 2018. Though the actor has remained vocal and optimistic about one day returning for future Superman projects.

There's no start or release date yet for any of his new Superman movies, but his fans do have something to look forward to in the near future, as he will be seen again in the Zack Snyder cut of "Justice League" that's premiering on the new streaming platform HBO Max next year.

With Cavill's return, fans who've enjoyed his onscreen team-up with Ben Affleck's Batman a.k.a. Batfleck must be on cloud nine, since the possibility of the duo teaming up again is becoming very real now, as Batfleck will also be back in the DCEU with his first appearance set to be in the upcoming Ezra Miller-led "The Flash" movie.
