14 Apr – Local film enthusiasts who have been wanting to stream Edmund Yeo's movies can now do so via Mubi. The streaming platform has recently launched a special segment, Spotlight on Edmund Yeo, which highlights all the Malaysian filmmaker's past works.
Currently playing is his crime drama, "Aqerat", which earned him the Best Director accolade at the 2017 Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). It is the first movie selected for his Mubi Special segment and will be made available for streaming for 24 more days.
His second movie to stream after "Aqerat" will be "Love Suicides", which will be made available online starting from tomorrow. Following that, his other 2009 title, "Kingyo", which was a collaborative effort with Japan, will start streaming on Mubi in 10 days' time. Finally, his 2010 movie, "Exhalation", also a Japanese co-production, will be available on the streaming platform in two weeks' time. All of the titles above have earned Yeo various accolades and nominations at worldwide film festivals, such as the aforementioned TIFF, the Cinemanila International Film Festival (CIFF), the Hamburg Film Festival, the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF), the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), the Jeonju International Film Festival and many more.
