20 Dec – The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is offering its Merdeka Studio Complex in Hulu Klang as a temporary evacuation centre for flood victims. The news was announced by its new CEO, Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim, who stated that the building itself is able to accommodate about 1,000 flood victims. "In addition to that, FINAS' assets including its three 4WD vehicles and vans are ready to be used in relief missions," he said. So far, no flood victims have been placed inside the complex. In addition to accommodation and assets, FINAS is also allocating RM20,000 assistance to the victims, as well as cooperating with PUSPANITA and its Suka Sosial Club to launch a relief fund. "Rumah Prihatin has also agreed to donate food baskets to the victims," he said. "FINAS has already informed the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) to publicise the agency's efforts to the Malaysian Disaster Management Agency (NADMA)." Flood victims who need help can now contact the FINAS hotline at 012-3155805.
