20 Apr – After much anticipation, Marvel Studios finally released the first official trailer of its first Asian superhero movie, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings".
The trailer, which was released on the same day as lead actor Simu Liu's 32nd birthday, features the titular character as he returns to his previous home, to presumably get back to his duties, after spending ten years enjoying every second of his life.
Aside from the many action scenes one would expect from such martial arts-packed movie - including one fight scene involving a bus - fans of Hong Kong superstar Tony Leung would also be elated to see the award-winning star's first look as the antagonist Wenwu. Other actors include Awkwafina, who plays the best friend Katy, former TVB actress Fala Chen as Jiang Li, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan.
It is noted that the production of "Shang-Chi" were among those that suffered setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, having been interrupted multiple times due to lockdown efforts while it was filming n Australia.
However, the film successfully wrapped up in October last year.
"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is set to be released on 2 September 2021.
