12 Oct – Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently admitted that he is elated to have been nominated at the upcoming International Emmy Awards. The actor, who was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor for his role in "Serious Men", stated that such recognition would always give him a lot of confidence when it comes to the types of roles given to him. "It reaffirms that I am making the right choices and that I am on the right path in my career," he said. "Our country has a lot of talent. The way that talent in our country is being exposed globally thanks to all the OTT platforms is commendable. Everyone is getting global recognition. I hope that this continues and I hope that more and more such content keeps coming and we keep pushing the boundaries. What makes me happiest is that talent is getting finally noticed."
The actor is set to compete with Mexican-Colombian actor Christian Tappan ("The Great Heist"), British star David Tennant ("Des") and Israeli actor Roy Nik ("Normali"). In "Serious Men", which is based on the novel of Manu Joseph, Nawazuddin plays the role of Ayyan Mani, a Dalit personal assistant who passes off his son as a genius - a lie which later gets out of control. It is noted that being nominated for an international award is nothing new to Nawazuddin, who has starred in eight films that have been selected and screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Among the accolades he has won outside India over the years include 2012's Asian Film Awards' Best Supporting Actor for "Talaash", 2013's Asia Pacific Film Festival Best Supporting Actor for "The Lunchbox", and Best Actor at the 2017 New York Film Festival for his role in "Haraamkhor".
