2 Dec – The production on Netflix's highly anticipated sequel of "Extraction" is now underway. The news was announced by director Sam Hargrave on his social media account on 29 November with a video that he captioned, "Shoot Day 1 is in the books on Extraction 2! We have such an amazing cast and crew...Excited about this one!!!" In the video, Hargrave revealed to fans the shooting location as he expressed, "Now that's a wrap on day one, here in "Extraction 2" at the train location. We got a lot of snow today, but looks pretty great on camera, so we'll take it."

The snowy location is an apparent departure from the first film, which was set in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The first film marked Hargrave's debut as a feature director, having been a stunt coordinator for many films like "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Deadpool 2", and "Avengers: Endgame". The film became the most watched original film in Netflix's history with a reported 99 million households in its first four weeks following its release in April last year. Aside from "Extraction", which stars Chris Hemsworth as a former Australian Special Air Service Regiment soldier turned black ops mercenary on a mission to rescue an Indian drug lord's kidnapped son, Hargrave is also helming three other films including "Stay Frosty" and "Prophet".
