29 Jun - "Smallville" star Tom Welling recently revealed that he has plans to reprise the said show with an animated series featuring the original cast. The actor shared the news in a Cameo video shared by an Instagram user, in which he could be heard saying, "Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life and use as many of the original cast members as possible." He jokingly added, "Don't tell anybody, though. It's a secret. We're still working on it."

Fans are now expressing hope that the series will pick up where it left off after its final episode in season 10, which ended back in 2011. It is noted that Welling has expressed his interest in reprising his role as Superman in past interviews, especially now that there is a new Batman in town in the likes of Robert Pattinson. "My buddy Rob Pattinson, he's going to be the new Batman. It would be fun to be the Superman that shows up in his movie, just because he's a friend of mine. But, you know, who knows?" he said.
Originally aired by The WB in 2001, the first four seasons of "Smallville" focuses on Clark and his friends in high school as well as his relationship with Lana Lang. It later expands into adult settings and focuses on his career at the Daily Planet and his relationship with Lois Lane.
