4 Mar – Following Madonna's previous announcement that she will be helming her own biopic, it was revealed that casting has already begun in search for the perfect actress to play the iconic performer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there has been a big turnout from actresses to singers wanting to play the role, with some now advancing to the latest stage of the audition process – which has been described as the Madonna Bootcamp. Among those who are reportedly still in the running include "Black Widow" actress Florence Pugh, "Euphoria" star Alexa Demie, "Mayor of Kingstown" newcomer Emma Laird, as well as Julia Garner, who recently portrayed fraudster Anna Sorokin/Delvey in Netflix's "Inventing Anna".
On the other hand, there are also singers like Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira trying their hands for the role. According to sources, these Madonna hopefuls are now participating in a grueling process that include choreography sessions, readings and singing auditions with Madonna herself. It is noted that Madonna herself will be directing the said movie, which she revealed she had co-written. "The reason I'm doing it is because a bunch of people have tried to write movies about me, but they're always men," she said, in a previous interview with Jimmy Fallon.
