27 Apr – Sony has recently unveiled another one of their Spider-Man antihero origin stories, announcing that it has cast Bad Bunny in the upcoming film, "El Muerto". The Puerto Rican rapper, who will be the first Latin star to lead a Marvel film, plays Juan Carlos/El Muerto, a superpowered Mexican wrestler whose power is passed down generationally through a luchador mask. The choice of casting Bad Bunny seems to be a good one, seeing that he is not only a musician, but also an actor and a professional wrestler.
The actor, real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio expressed, "This opportunity to bring El Muerto to life, it's amazing. It's incredible. I love wrestling, I grew up watching wrestling, and now I'm a wrestler. I think it's the perfect role for me. It will be epic, I'm sure." The character itself is not the most popular among Spider-Man villains, and was first introduced in volume 6 of the "Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man" series in 2006, and has only appeared in a handful of issues since then. No further details have been released about the film, but that Sony has scheduled it tentatively to be released on 12 January 2024. On the other hand, Bad Bunny can also be seen in the upcoming Brad Pitt-starrer, "Bullet Train".
