31 Mar – Chris Rock recently revealed that he is not ready yet to talk about the incident that occurred between him and Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards. The comedian received a standing ovation when he made his first appearance since the incident at his standup show in Boston on 30 March, and had to wait a moment before the applause ends before addressing the issue. "I don't have a bunch of [expletive] about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend," he said.
Rock added that he is still processing what happened, and will talk about it at some point in the future and that "it will be serious and funny." He then continued, "I'm going to tell some jokes. It's nice to just be out," before proceeding with the show. It is noted that ticket sales for Rock's said show boosted overnight since he was slapped by Smith at the Oscars for joking about Jada Pinkett-Smith, with many eager to know what he thinks about the whole controversy, having made no statement about it since it happened. Rock was also reported to have declined to press charges against Will Smith, who had since apologised for his behaviour.
