8 Feb – With "Spider-Man: No Way Home" breaking one record after another, it was recently reported that Sony is set to expand its Marvel characters universe through the upcoming movie, "Madame Web". The upcoming film, which will be based on the Marvel Comics' character created by writer Denny O'Neil and artist John Romita Jr., is set on getting Dakota Johnson to play the lead, with S.J. Clarkson to direct the movie.
It will also be written by Matt Sazaman and Burk Sharpless, who previously penned Jared Leto's Spider-Verse film, "Morbius".
Usually depicted as a supporting character in the "Spider-Man" comic book series, Madame Web was originally a clairvoyant and precognitive mutant named Cassandra Webb who helped Spider-Man find a kidnap victim. She later passed her powers of precognition as well as blindness to a woman named Julia Carpenter. Johnson seemingly confirmed her interest to play the character, posting a single spider-web emoji on her Instagram Story.
