14 Jul – Tamil star Dhanush recently had his co-stars burst into laughter upon telling the media he didn't know how he was cast in the upcoming Netflix film, "The Gray Man". The actor, who plays an assassin in the movie directed by the Russo Brothers of "Avengers: Endgame" fame, was asked how he landed the role, to which he said, "I don't know how I ended up in this film", prompting Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans to laugh. He then added, "I was thrilled and very excited. Of course, I don't get to say much in the film. I was super thrilled and was looking for an opportunity to learn and explore."
In a previous interview, Joe and Anthony Russo stated that they are big fans of the Tamil actor, adding that they wrote the character with Dhanush in mind. "He plays one of the top assassins of the world and has two major fight blocks in the film. Dhanush has a great camera presence and we loved seeing him perform," they said. "The Gray Man" tells the story of CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka, Sierra Six, who is being hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA - who will stop at nothing to take him out. Made with a US$200 million budget, this marks it as the most expensive Netflix original movie to date. Dhanush was in the news earlier this year when he and director wife Aishwaryaa released a joint-statement to announce their divorce. His ex-wife is the daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth.
