13 May – Zac Efron has recently won High School Musical nerds' hearts everywhere by saying that he would definitely love to return to the franchise. The actor, who sat down for an interview to promote his new movie, the Stephen King adaptation, "Firestarter", was asked about his most famous project to date, and if he would ever be reprising the role as Troy Bolton. "Of course, of course," he said. "I mean, to have an opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart is still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens."
It is noted that Efron's rise to stardom began with the singing, basketball playing stud in "High School Musical" back in 2006 alongside his leading lady Vanessa Hudgens, and continued to play the role two more times in the two subsequent sequels in 2007 and 2008. The title also spawned a new Disney+ show, "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series", with the upcoming third season to feature an actor from the original film.
