17 May – Will there be a sequel to the 2017 musical, "The Greatest Showman"? According to Hugh Jackman, he has no qualms returning if there is a good story to be told. The actor, who played the ambitious showman PT Barnum in the original film, was asked about his thoughts on a second movie, in which he expressed lightheartedly, "Listen, if you know anything about my filmography, you'd know I'm totally against sequels in every shape or form. No more than nine films!" "I'm always open, if they come up with a good idea. Yeah, I'm open!" he added.
The answer came following co-star Michelle Williams' previous response about a sequel. The actress earlier stated that she would say yes to it in a heartbeat, adding, "I wish they'd make a sequel... I really love that movie. My daughter Matilda sang those songs. My mum is still listening to that soundtrack. I love making things for kids that are full of joy and positivity." It is noted that there has been talks about a sequel back in 2019, but nothing has been finalised since then. The film, which is based on a story and life of Barnum and his Barnum & Bailey Circus and the lives of its star attractions, co-starred Zac Efron, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya.
