3 Nov – Several months after announcing his movie comeback with historical pic, "Jeanne du Barry", a fresh image of Johnny Depp in his new role has been released by the studio.

Wild Bunch International (WBI) revealed the image recently, which showed Depp looking fresh and regal as Louis XV in the upcoming French director Maïwenn's costume drama, in which she also co-stars as the titular character.

The historical love story is inspired by the titular courtesan, who was Louis XV's last royal mistress at the Court of Versailles, following his time with Madame de Pompadour.

The illegitimate daughter of a seamstress, Jeanne du Barry used her intelligence and beauty to rise through the ranks of 18th century Paris high society and Louis XV's Court at Versailles and became the King's favourite companion.

Depp's involvement in the project was first revealed while the actor was in a defamation battle against ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this year, of which he ended up winning. It marked his comeback following a long hiatus due to Heard's accusations of domestic violence.

His last film was the 2020 movie, "Minamata".
