16 Nov – Margot Robbie recently revealed that the planned "Pirates of the Caribbean" spinoff will not be made after all. The actress, who was previously reported to be in talks to star in her own Pirates movie for Disney, shared as much in an interview with Vanity Fair, saying, "We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led - not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story - which we thought would've been really cool." "But I guess they don't want to do it," she added, referring to Disney. The project was first announced in June 2020, with Christina Hodson of "Batgirl" set to write the screenplay. It came in the midst of "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp's legal battle against ex-wife Amber Heard, who accused him of domestic abuse. Depp, who created the mannerism that made Captain Jack Sparrow such an iconic role, won the defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife in the middle of this year, but has made a statement during the trial that nothing on earth would convince him to return to the franchise following the fallout with Disney.
