5 Oct - Months after he announced that he is going to crowdfund his new project, "Pendatang Movie", co-producer Amir Muhammad revealed that the film has now reached and exceeded the target.

On 4 October, the Kuman Pictures founder shared the good news on Facebook, writing, "Did this just happen? Are we really going to make Malaysia's first-ever crowdfunded feature film #PendatangMovie?"

"We are of course thrilled! But even more than that, we are grateful. To every single person who gave money to us – your names are there, we will remember you," he added.

The upcoming movie, penned by Lim Boon Siang, will be directed by Ng Ken Kin.

On the other hand, Ng expressed, "As of 3.06pm today we managed to surpass our target, which means we can now move on to the next phase; making the film! The momentum over the last few days has been insane and I want to thank everyone who helped us to reach the target, either by backing or spreading the word."

"Pendatang Movie" is described as "A Malaysian thriller movie on the danger of racial extremism" set in a dystopian racially segregated country.
In a previous interview, Amir stated that the movie will be screened for free on YouTube. It is expected to be released in August 2023, with production to begin in the first quarter of next year.
