15 Nov – AMC Network's streaming service Shudder has recently acquired rights to Malaysian horror film, "Harum Malam". The streaming service, which focuses on horror, thriller, and the supernatural, will be showing the movie exclusively in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in 2023. "One of next year's most frightening films, Blood Flower (Harum Malam) is a special kind of haunter. We're thrilled to bring the bold voice of director Dain Said to the service, and to make Blood Flower (Harum Malam) our first Shudder Original from Malaysia," said the platform rep.
Meanwhile, the movie director Dain Said, also known for movies like "Bunohan" and "Dukun", stated, "My ghost in Harum Malam needs a place to haunt, and in Shudder it has found a home to spill blood and do its evil deeds." According to AMC, the movie, which will be released in Malaysia in February 2023, tells the story of Iqbal, a 16-year-old apprentice faith healer and exorcist, tormented by visions of the dead and spirits from other dimensions. When a malicious spirit begins to wreak havoc around him, Iqbal is forced to harness his supernatural gifts to save his family and friends.
The film co-stars Idan Aedan, Arnie Shasha and Angelica Petra, with the addition of experienced actors Bront Palarae, Remy Ishak, and Nadiya Nissa among others. It was also an official selection of Fantastic Fest 2022 and the Sitges Film Festival.
