4 Jul – Known for voicing the popular character Buzz Lightyear in the original "Toy Story" movie and its subsequent films and shorts, Tim Allen recently shared his views on the new animated feature, "Lightyear". The actor, who hasn't made any comments about the film that sees Buzz being voiced by "Captain America" star Chris Evans, stated that he has not much to say about it since it is entirely separate from the franchise that he is a part of for more than two decades. "The short answer is I've stayed out of this because it has nothing to do [with my character]. This is a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies," he said.
Despite it being a "wonderful story", said Allen, "It just doesn't seem to have any connection to the toy, and it's a little...I don't know. It just has no relationship to Buzz. It's just no connection. I wish there was a better connection to this." It is noted that Evans previously explained in his tweet that his film has nothing to do with Buzz the toy. "Just to be clear, this isn't Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on," he tweeted.
