22 Feb - Tom Holland is proving himself to be the new box office prince as his new movie, "Uncharted" was revealed to have made USD 44.1 million at the weekend box office. The action adventure, directed by Ruben Fleischer of "Zombieland" and "Venom" fame, is expected to earn USD52 million through Monday, though it has yet to be considered a profitable entry, as the movie itself was made with more than a USD100 million in budget. "This result is yet another extraordinary testament to the appetite for the theatrical experience that Sony Pictures bet on. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are brilliant together," said Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group president Josh Greenstein.
In "Uncharted", Holland plays treasure hunter Nathan Drake, who alongside his partner Sully (Mark Wahlberg), embark on a quest to uncover the greatest treasure never found while being chased by two villainous fellow treasure hunters hoping to find the same fortune.
Holland has already shown he is capable of making bank, what with his Marvel/Sony superhero movie, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" making USD 1.8 billion at the box office.
