21 Feb – It's official. "Avatar: The Way of Water" has now successfully taken over the 3rd spot in the list of the highest grossing movies from "Titanic". The 2022 James Cameron movie edged out the 1997 James Cameron movie by a million, after amassing USD 2.243 billion since its release in December last year. It is noted that "Titanic" recently held the third spot to dear life, especially after it was re-released in 3D earlier this month. It now stands at USD 2.242 billion globally.
Cameron now has three movies in the top five highest grossing movie list, with the original "Avatar" standing at number one with USD 2.92 billion. This also means that Kate Winslet, the star of "Titanic" and the supporting actress in "Avatar: The Way of Water" has two movies in the list as well. It is noted that "Titanic" stayed as the highest grossing movie for 12 years before it was dethroned by Cameron's "Avatar", and later dropped to the third spot behind Marvel's "Avenger's Endgame" (USD 2.79 billion).
