29 Sep – Irish veteran actor Sir Michael Gambon, most known worldwide as Professor Albus Dumbledore of "Harry Potter", has recently passed away. The news was announced in a statement on behalf of his family on 28 September, which read, "We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82."
"We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love," it added.
Gambon started his acting career in theatre, before he became a household name playing the role of Philip Marlow in the 1986 mini=series, "The Singing Detective". However, the actor became world famous after he succeeded Richard Harris as Dumbledore in 2004's "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" following Harris' passing, and went on to play the role for the rest of the franchise.
