21 Sep – After five weeks in theatres, it was revealed that "MALBATT: Misi Bakara" has now made RM 32.5 million at the box office. Adrian Teh, who helmed the movie, couldn't help but feel elated over the continuous success of the movie.
"My team and I are touched by the support towards the film. We hope that this success will not stop and will continue to be a positive impact to the country's film industry," he added.
The movie, starring a slew of great actors including Bront Palare, Shaheizy Sam, Hairul Azreen, Zahiril Adzim and Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, is based on a true story, in which 19 members of the Royal Malay Soldiers Regiment rescued 70 US soldiers trapped in the Bakara Market in Mogadishu, Somalia. The incident was first told as a movie in the 2001 Hollywood movie, "Black Hawk Down", but it failed to mention Malaysia's involvement in the rescue mission.
