27 Apr – Ryan Gosling recently admitted that he didn't know much about the Ken doll, the male equivalent of Barbie, until he was cast to play the role in the new Greta Gerwig movie, "Barbie". The actor, who spoke about his role as the blond beach-loving toy, stated that he only knew Ken from "afar" and not from "within". "If I'm being really honest, I doubted my Ken-ergy. I didn't see it. Margot and Greta, I feel like they conjured this out of me somewhere," he said. Gosling lightheartedly stated that the character began to come to him as he bleached his hair and shaved his legs, and rollerbladed his way down Venice Beach in his neon outfit. "It came on like a fever, like a Scarlet fever. Like, why is there fake tanner on my sheets? Why am I wearing jackets without shirts? What just happened?" he stated.
The synopsis to the upcoming Margot Robbie-starrer read, "To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you're a Ken." The movie will be released in mid-July and co-stars America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, and Simu Liu among others.
