12 Jan – Sony Pictures is set to adapt the wuxia title "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" into a TV series. The studio has recently inked a deal with producer and writer Jason Ning to turn all of Wang Dulu's "Crane Iron Pentalogy" novels into a TV show, which also included the said novel. The "Crane Iron Pentalogy" has five novels in total, published between 1938 and 1944. Aside from the aforementioned title, which is the fourth book in the series, the other four are "Crane Startles Kunlun", "Precious Sword, Golden Hairpin", "Sword Force, Pearl Shine", and "Iron Knight, Silver Vase".
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was released back in 2000 and was nominated Best Picture at the 73rd Academy Awards, though ended up winning Best Foreign Language Film. The movie stars Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, and Chang Chen. Its sequel, "Sword of Destiny" was released in 2016.
