Aditi Rao Hydari reacts to viral sensual walk from "Heeramandi"

Aditi Rao says she just followed what director Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her to do

21 May - "Heeramandi" actress Aditi Rao Hydari admitted that she was surprised that her graceful strut scene in the "Saiyaan Hatto Jaao" clip from the hit Netflix show went viral online, though unsure of the name that the walk has been called.

Speaking to the media about the strut, which many has called the "Gajagamini walk", Aditi stated that she even felt like calling her dance teacher as well as director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and asked them the name of the strut.

"I'd say it was what Mr. Sanjay asked me to do. I followed Mr. Sanjay and what he told me," she said.

The actress wins attention over her performance

Aditi said that she knew that there were types of walk, including the Mayur chaal (peacock walk) and Gajagamini (walk of seduction) in Kathak, but that she is unsure about the walk that she did.

"Whatever I see on Instagram, reel upon reel, the whole viral nature of that piece is so overwhelming. He (Sanjay) is very good at spotting magic on the spot and he created a lot of nuances in the process. He said that he wanted that dupatta to fall on a particular beat, the head to turn and the [sound of the ghungroo] to come exactly on the beat, so it was all his thought and his creation," she said.

At the same time, Aditi praised the filmmaker for not letting her lose weight before filming the series, saying that she already looked beautiful.

In "Heeramandi", Aditi plays courtesan Bibbojaan, the elder daughter of Manisha Koirala's Mallikajaan. Other stars who are part of the series included Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman and Farida Jalal.
