17 Sep - Borrowing the words of Mean Girls' Regina George: "Stop trying to make "The Goonies 2" happen, it's not going to happen."

Or at least, that's what Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton tried to tell fans amid rumours surfacing that there will be a sequel to their beloved 1985 movie that will reunite all of the original stars.

"2'SDAY, IS #GOONIES2 REAL?! EVERY1 IS ASKING...I CAN OFFICIALLY TELL U 100% NO! I HAV NO INFO THAT A SEQUEL IS IN THE WORX," Feldman posted on X on 10 September as he shared a trailer of his new project, "The Birthday".

Meanwhile, Plimpton posted on Instagram, "People, there is no Goonies 2 script, there is no one 'attached,' Spielberg is not directing, it's not real. What IS real is CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION AND VOTE!!!!"

It is noted that a certain tabloid recently claimed that a sequel of the movie is in the works at Warner Bros, and will be released in either 2026 or 2027.

Feldman plays the role of Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, lead character Mikey's (Sean Astin) best friend known for his cheeky tongue. Meanwhile, Plimpton plays the role of Stef Steinbrenner, a snarky tomboy and best friend to Mikey's sister Andy (played by Kerri Green).
