15 Oct - Elon Musk has been making headlines after unveiling the new prototypes for his much-anticipated self-driving robotaxi (Cybercab) and autonomous Robovan.

However, he is also attracting attention not for the innovation, but for how similar the robots are to director Alex Proyas' character in the 2004 Will Smith-starrer movie, "I, Robot".

This similarity has also gained the attention of Proyas himself, who shared a side-by-side comparison of Musk's designs to his own, and wrote, "Hey Elon, can I have my designs back, please?"

While some couldn't help but laugh at the similarities, others, especially fans of Musk couldn't help but feel slighted, as they flooded Proyas' post with negative comments.

One posted, "Yeah, cause you invented humanoid robots and suicide doors gtfoh". Another wrote, "Sure, you can have them back. Just as soon as you launch and then catch a rocket returning from space in midair with chopsticks. Deal?"

The movie itself imagines a world where human-like androids fill public service positions throughout the world, operating under Isaac Asimov's three laws to keep humans safe.
