8 Feb – Although he previously confirmed five "Avatar" movies, James Cameron is now saying that he has ideas for the sixth and seventh movies. The filmmaker, who is currently working on the postproduction of the third film, stated that he and his team have already worked on half of movie number four and written through movie number five.
"I've got ideas for six and seven, although I'll probably be handing the baton on at that point," he said. "Mortality catches up. But I mean, we're enjoying what we're doing. We're loving it. We get to work with great people."
However, Cameron had given no indication as to which director he feels would do movie six and seven justice if they come to fruition. "Avatar 2" was released in 2022 and is currently the third highest grossing movie of all time with USD 2.3 billion behind "Avengers: Endgame" and the movie's own predecessor "Avatar", which made USD 2.9 billion at the box office.
