"M3GAN" team to create spinoff, "SOULM8TE"

24 Jun - It was revealed that a "M3GAN" spinoff is currently in the works.

Atomic Monster, the company owned by horror auteur James Wan, as well as Jason Blum's Blumhouse, are set to produce "SOULM8TE", which they said will expand the M3GAN universe.

The film, under the Universal banner, is already set for a January 2026 release, with Kate Dolan ("You Are Not My Mother") to helm the movie. She is also rewriting the script originally from Rafael Jordan.

"Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness," Dolan said in a statement. "Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths."

In "SOULM8TE", a man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.

The news came following the announcement that "M3GAN", which made USD 181 million at the box office last year, will have a sequel released in June 2025.
