23 Aug – Lionsgate has decided to rescind the latest trailer of Francis Ford Coppola's new movie, "Megalopolis" following reports that it contains several supposed made-up quotes from famous film critics.

The trailer was previously released with several past quotes made by famous critics, like The New Yorker's Pauline Kael's "diminished by its artsiness," and Village Voice's Andrew Sarris' "sloppy self-indulgent movie," which supposedly were taken from their reviews of Coppola's classic film, "The Godfather".

There were also several other fake quotes from his movie, "Apocalypse Now" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula".

The said quote was not found in Kael's review of "The Godfather"

The idea was to convey how the filmmaker's films have always stood the test of times, and that it went on to become legendary films despite what critics initially thought of it, and that "Megalopolis" will stand along with his other works.

The problem is? The quotes were not found from any of their reviews of the said films.

In response to the issue, a Lionsgate rep confirmed, ""Lionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for 'Megalopolis'. We offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process. We screwed up. We are sorry."
