1 Oct - Although fans of Shah Rukh Khan were elated to see him winning another Best Actor award at the recently held International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024 that took place in Abu Dhabi, many have turned to social media to criticise the choice.

SRK recently bested contenders Vikrant Massey ("12th Fail"), Ranbir Kapoor ("Animal"), Ranveer Singh ("Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani"), Vicky Kaushal ("Sam Bahadur") and Sunny Deol ("Gadar 2") to win the accolade for his performance in "Jawan".

In his speech, he expressed, "It's good to be back. I'm extremely grateful for this award. I love awards, I'm greedy about awards... I'm genuinely back and I'm really happy to end the year like this."

However, fans of Ranbir Kapoor and others alike were unhappy with the result, with many saying that Ranbir was a better choice to win this year rather than SRK, who they believed was also nominated for the wrong movie.

One user posted, "What is [the] logic to give best film award to #animal and best actor award to #ShahRukhKhan for Jawan. I was never interested in these Bollywood awards but this level of [recklessness] is [laughing crying emoji]."

Another posted, "That's why SRK hosted [the awards], so that the best actor award could be given [to him]. The deserving one was Vikrant Massey or Ranbir Kapoor."

One netizen also echoed similar sentiment saying, "Even his performance in Pathaan was better than Jawan. Also how can you give him best actor award when Ranbir in Animal & Vikrant in 12th fail literally exist?"
