Sam Quah wins Best Director again at Asia Pacific Film Festival New Zealand

4 Nov - Malaysian filmmaker Sam Quah has brought glory to the country yet again, this time winning Best Director at the 12th Asia Pacific Film Festival New Zealand.

The director won for his work, "A Place Called Silence", and marked the second win for him in less than a month after being honoured at the Tokyo International Film Festival as Best New Director.

"I want to say one thing to my father in heaven: I did it! Thank you for giving me the strength to move forward on the road to filmmaking," he expressed.

He also thanked his team as well as family for their support throughout the process, and every audience member who went to watch the movie.

"I am grateful that they loved the story of this film," he said.

Aside from Best Director, the movie also won Best Picture, while lead actress Janine Chang won Best Actress for her performance in the film.
