S Baldev Singh claims sabotage against his Punjabi movie "Saazish"

Locally produced Punjabi film "Saazish" faces a clash
4 Jul - Producer S Baldev Singh is claiming that the first local Punjabi film released by his production company, "Saazish" has been sabotaged due to overlapping screening schedules with a Punjabi film from India.

The producer and Sri Saheb Production owner stated that the action film should not have had to compete with any other Punjabi film as it follows the Compulsory Screening Scheme (Skim Wajib Tayang) of FINAS (National Film Development Corporation).

However, he was surprised to learn that a Punjabi film from India was brought in and screened a day after his film was released.

"Saazish" is touted to be the biggest Malaysian action Punjabi film
"The worldwide release date of that film was 28 June, but the release in Malaysia was postponed to Friday, the day after Saazish's release. I contacted FINAS and they are trying to resolve this issue," he said.

Baldev also believes that someone is trying to sabotage his film by bringing in the other title, and that it will cause issues in the future when it comes to movie investments.

"At first there were investors interested in producing another Punjabi film next October. However, they are now worried about facing a similar situation as Saazish," he said, adding that he hopes that such an incident will not occur again in the future.

"Saazish" stars Kulbeer Singh, Avinder Singh, Amaan Singh Virk, Navinder Kaur, Paul Masih and Dato Adi Putra.
