2 Sep - It took him 36 years to finally direct the sequel to his 1988 movie, "Beetlejuice". Thus, Tim Burton has no plans to helm another sequel after the second movie.

The 66-year-old filmmaker shared as much recently at the premiere of the movie in London's Leicester Square when asked about a third movie, saying, "Well, if [the same] time frame goes on, I'll be about 100. So maybe. I doubt it."

As to why it took him so long to direct the sequel, Burton said that he was inspired by the character of Lydia Deetz, portrayed by Winona Ryder.

"Getting older is where you start thinking about what happens in life. [She] starts as a cool teenager. Relationships ... Do you have kids? What are they like? What do you like? How do you change? These are all things that I know and experience. So, it felt more right to make this now, rather than back in, like, 1989," he said.

Meanwhile, the new addition to the movie, Jenna Ortega said that she was surprised when Burton offered her the role of Lydia's daughter Astrid and being given the opportunity to work with Winona Ryder.

"Working with him is a dream... Playing [Ryder's] daughter is probably one of the most grateful experiences I've ever had. She is just an absolute legend and one of the loveliest people," she said.
