29 Aug - Aaron Aziz has dismissed the notion that gangster films, including "KL Gangster", in which he starred in, are the main cause of the increase in bullying cases in schools.

Speaking to the media at the launch of the SocialCeleb campaign at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), Aaron said that such movies only played a very minor role in the issue, as there are many other factors that contribute to the problem.

"I don't deny that gangster films may be one of the causes. When 'KL Gangster' was released, there were parents who contacted me asking for advice for their children who were influenced by the action scenes and I did advise them well," he said.

"However, movies are not just the factor. There are many other factors including YouTube and social media. It all depends on the audience."

Sharing his own personal experiences, Aaron revealed that he has helped several victims of bullying who had experienced serious emotional trauma, including one who even slept with a knife in his bed as he was too scared.

"His parents contacted me asking for help. I went to see him, chatted and suggested learning Muay Thai. Thank God, now he is more confident and no longer traumatised," he said, adding that it was his social responsibility to help.
