Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan confirms reunion with superstar Mammootty

3 Dec - Making his return to directing after eight years, Adoor Gopalakrishnan recently revealed that his new movie will reunite him with his former collaborator, Mammootty.

Sharing the news with Manorama News, the filmmaker said that the film, which will be produced under the actor's banner, Mammootty Kampany, will have Mammootty play the lead.

"The casting for the remaining characters is currently underway. As the scripting was going on, only Mammootty's face came to my mind for the central character. I felt that he would be the perfect person for the role," he said.

Adoor and Mammootty have worked together three times

Although Adoor made no mention of the title of the movie, some suggested that it will be an adaptation of Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai's novel, "Randidangazhi".

It is noted that Mammootty and Adoor last worked together on "Vidheyan" in 1994. The two have collaborated in three movies throughout the 1980s and 90s.
