"Impak Maksima 2" is just the beginning of something bigger for Ahmad Idham
16 Jul - After an 18-year wait, the sequel to 2007's phenomenal hit is finally here to shake up cinemas everywhere. "Impak Maksima 2" promises to deliver even more heart-pounding action than its predecessor, and motorsports fans are in for quite the treat.

Produced by Screen Studio Sdn Bhd, this adrenaline-fueled film showcases an impressive fleet of nearly 1,000 cars of various types - a spectacular display that's sure to restore the glory of Malaysia's local drifting scene.

The film's premiere ceremony and press conference recently took place at GSC Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, creating a buzz of excitement. The star-studded event brought together both rising stars and veteran talents from the local industry, including Arfie Shah, Nelissa Nizam, Muhsin Nadzli, Datuk Seri Eizlan Yusof, Zul Huzaimy, Dynas Mokhtar, and Fad Bocey.

Director Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri sees "Impak Maksima 2" as more than just a sequel - it's a platform to spotlight fresh talent and newcomers in Malaysia's film industry.

"While others were hesitant to hire new actors, I've always believed in taking that leap," he shared at the event. "I did it before with films like 'Remp-It' and 'Jangan Pandang Belakang,' and I'm doing it again."

The director has bigger plans in mind, too. "I'm working to create a 'universe' of motorsports films in Malaysia," he explained. "That's why I need to strike the right balance between seasoned and new actors. What's special about this film is that every character has kept their original actor - no replacements. Each actor brings something unique to their role."

Looking ahead, Ahmad Idham hinted at even more excitement to come: "With your support, God willing, I'll bring all these actors together for 'Impak Maksima 3.'"

Despite the film's impressive scale, the production moved fast as filming and post-production wrapped up in just a few months, from December last year to early this year.

"We completed this film quickly because I have an amazing production team," Ahmad Idham noted. "We even handled the editing process on location. With today's technology, there's no reason we can't work efficiently - it just takes dedication."

The film has garnered strong support from major sponsors including Goodyear, Petronas Syntium, APD Crew Circuit, Baum Autowerk, Ultra Racing, WrapXpert, Works Engineering, and HJC Helmet. It also received valuable cooperation from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB), Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), and Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).

"Impak Maksima 2" hits cinemas starting 17 July 2025.
