"Avatar: Fire and Ash" has crossed USD 300 million in its opening weekend

"Avatar 3" scores big internationally
22 Dec - James Cameron proves that he has more fans outside the US, as the third instalment of his "Avatar" movie, "Fire and Ash" has now amassed USD 257 million internationally after three days.

The movie, which opened on 19 December, became the second highest studio opening this year globally at USD 345 million, behind "Zootopia 2," with most of the earnings came from global fans. In China alone, the movie made USD 57.6 million.

It also made USD 88 million in North America, though considered lower compared to expectations for an Avatar movie.

However, the film has to make a lot of money for it to be considered profitable, seeing that it was made with a hefty budget of USD 400 million.

The last Avatar film, "The Way of Water" made USD 2.3 billion at the box office over a budget of USD 460 million.

On the other hand, "Zootopia" has now made USD 1.2 billion at the box office in its fourth week. It is currently the seventh highest animated feature of all time.
