"Avatar: Fire and Ash" to run longer than 3 hours
11 Mar - If you think that "Avatar: The Way of Water" was long enough for you to have butt cramps sitting in your cinema seat, just wait what James Cameron has in store for you for the third film.

The filmmaker, whose third "Avatar" film will be released in December, doesn't think that "The Way of Water" was long enough in terms of its running time and says that the upcoming film, "Fire and Ash" will be the longest in the franchise so far.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" clocked in at 3 hours 12 minutes
"In a nutshell, we had too many great ideas packed into act one of Movie 2. 'The Way of Water', in retrospect, was moving like a bullet train, and we weren't drilling down enough on character. So I said, 'Guys, we've got to split it'," he said. "Movie 3 will actually be a little bit longer than Movie 2."

It is noted that "The Way of Water" has the duration of 3 hours 12 minutes, while the first movie had 2 hours and 42 minutes.

Despite the long duration, the two films still brought in fans in the droves, so to speak, with both films having the combined box office takings of USD 5.2 billion. The first movie is still the highest grossing movie of all time at USD 2.92 billion.
