9 Jan - Although the realistic horror film "Bisikan Dosa" has not yet premiered on the silver screen, production company Yusrych Global Sdn Bhd has already revealed that there is a prequel, "Bisikan Dosa 2".

The producer and founder of Yusrych Global, Yusry Makmor, shared that the filming of both the prequel and sequel was completed simultaneously within 25 days, following a brainstorming session with creative director Zafran Aziz, who provided the original concept.

"The prequel has actually been in planning for quite some time. During a discussion at a restaurant, we contemplated making two films simultaneously - a prequel and a sequel," Yusry explained at the gala premiere of "Bisikan Dosa" at TGV Suria KLCC on Monday. "After negotiations, we decided to release the sequel first, with the prequel to follow later. Events depicted in the sequel will be explained in the prequel."

Yusry noted that while this approach helped reduce costs, it required careful coordination of all parties involved, especially the actors. "Though it's cost-effective, the process demands precise scheduling as we needed the same cast available throughout the 25-day shooting period for both films," he said. "Hopefully successful, "Bisikan Dosa" will be Malaysia's first production to shoot two films simultaneously."

Beyond its horror elements, "Bisikan Dosa" tackles the reality of women suffering from postpartum blues and postpartum depression. Director Faizul A. Rashid shared that the film was inspired by real-life experiences, including those of his friend and Zafran. "The idea came from a friend's true story, where his own child was nearly harmed," Faizul revealed. "Zafran himself witnessed his wife's struggles. It highlights the intense stress mothers experience during confinement."

Both Faizul and Yusry hope the film, which will be released in Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore on 9 January, will receive a positive response from audiences.

The story follows Sarimah, portrayed by Sara Ali, who relocates to Kuala Lumpur for a fresh start following the tragic death of her young child and her ex-husband's infidelity and remarriage. As Ayden's family maid, she encounters the restless spirit of Zara, Ayden's deceased wife, whom she recognises from a family portrait.

The film features a talented ensemble cast including Farid Kamil, Uqasha Senrose, Che Puan Juliana Evans, Syazuwan Hassan, and Sherie Merlis.
