30 Jul - Repair and restoration work are now underway for the houses of legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar in Pakistan.

According to Dr. Abdus Samad, Director of Archaeology, work began on 28 July in restoring the historic homes' strength and aesthetics, with the funds being provided by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Both places will be transformed into museums that will honour the lives and careers of the two biggest Indian icons, known for movies like "Mughal-E-Azam", "Devdas", "Sangam" and "Mera Naam Joker".

It was back in 2014 that former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif designated the two homes, which are situated in the ancient Qissa Khwani Bazaar in Peshawar as national heritage sites.

"With the support of the World Bank, these projects will revolutionise the tourism sector in the province. Our aim is to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's beautiful cultural landmarks a focal point for tourists worldwide," said the provincial government's Advisor for Tourism Zahid Khan Shinwari.

The project is expected to be finished in two years' time.
