9 Oct - Disney is making a significant change to its streaming strategy, with Hulu becoming the global general entertainment brand on Disney+ starting 9 October 2025. The move marks the end of the Star brand, which previously served as the general entertainment hub for Disney+ subscribers outside the United States.

In Malaysia, the transition is even more pronounced, with Disney+ Hotstar being rebranded simply as Disney+. Despite the name changes, subscribers will continue to have access to the same extensive content library they've come to expect, now organised under the recognisable Hulu brand with its distinctive green color scheme.

What's Coming to Disney+ Malaysia
Malaysian viewers can look forward to an impressive lineup of upcoming originals from the United States, South Korea, and Japan. Highlights include Ryan Murphy's legal drama "All's Fair", featuring an ensemble cast led by Glenn Close, Kim Kardashian, and Niecy Nash.

Korean content fans can anticipate the romantic comedy "Would You Marry Me" with Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min, as well as the action thriller "The Manipulated" starring Ji Changwook and Doh Kyungsoo. Japanese anime enthusiasts will enjoy "WANDANCE", a visually striking coming-of-age story.

These new titles will join an already impressive catalogue of critically acclaimed series such as "Grey's Anatomy", "Modern Family" and "Shōgun", along with popular Asian content including "The Judge from Hell", "Moving" and "Gannibal".

A Unified Streaming Experience
"Disney+ is known to have the most beloved library of content in Malaysia. With Hulu as our new general entertainment brand on Disney+, we will continue to deliver unparalleled storytelling to families, friends and fans," said Vineet Puri, Vice President and General Manager of The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia.

The consolidation brings Disney's streaming offerings under one unified brand umbrella, combining content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and now Hulu into a single platform. The service features hundreds of films, thousands of television episodes, and a growing collection of exclusive original content from the Asia-Pacific region.

For Malaysian subscribers, the transition to the new branding takes effect immediately on 9 October, with the Hulu tile becoming the new home for general entertainment content on the platform.
