26 Dec - The Dissy is back with a brand-new Chinese New Year release. Their latest movie, "IM NOT GANGSTER", is officially set for release on the first day of Chinese New Year 2026 (17 February 2026), marking the team's second major entry into the festive film season.

Riding on the momentum of their debut feature, the team raises the stakes with a movie that promises bigger scale, higher production value and bolder ambition. The film blends comedy with sharp social satire. While it appears absurd on the surface, it also reflects real-life struggles, continuing Dissy's signature style.

Veteran actor Mark Lee returns to fully support the project, reprising his role and stepping in as an investor after a successful collaboration on "Close Ur Kopitiam".

Praising the team's journey from digital content to the big screen, Mark said, "They didn't come from the traditional movie industry, but they proved they could deliver." He added with a laugh, "Since the first film made some money, I decided to put it back into the second one and help them go further."

Leading the cast again is Songbill, who describes the movie as a full upgrade in every aspect.

With over 50 filming locations and close to 1,000 cast and extras, it is the largest-scale project the Dissy team has undertaken to date. "We wanted to give audiences something more immersive this time, both visually and narratively," Songbill said.

Reflecting on their journey, the team shared that the success of their first movie was the result of collective effort and a bit of luck, "Every year is a new beginning."

All the experience gained from their first feature has been poured into "IM NOT GANGSTER", as the team continues to explore local storytelling beyond pure entertainment. Dissy founder Morn added, "Chinese New Year is a time to go to the cinema. We hope everyone will come out and support us. We'll keep working hard to tell Malaysian stories even better."

"IM NOT GANGSTER" follows Ah Loong, a timid, ordinary young man whose life changes drastically after he rescues an injured stranger. Drawn into Kuala Lumpur's criminal underworld, Ah Loong becomes entangled with the gang Yi Qi, where survival depends on loyalty, submission and moral compromise.

Directed by Vince Chong and fully backed by Mark Lee, the movie reunites familiar Dissy faces, including Songbill, Dahee, Morn Liew, Anthony Ng, Kim Chen Wu, Adeline Wong, Yuriko, Yuniyce YY, Zuvia, Michie Lam and Judy Pang. The ensemble is further joined by Chan Phei Yong, Jack Yap, Yap Poh Choo and Alvin.

Produced by Dissy Definition Film and helmed entirely by the Dissy team, "IM NOT GANGSTER" will premiere in cinemas nationwide this Chinese New Year 2026, offering audiences a festive film that dares to laugh at the darker corners of society.
