18 Dec - Assoc. Professor Datuk A. Razak Mohaideen recently claimed that the recently unveiled poster of "Duyung: Legenda Aurora" is a gimmick to get people talking about the movie.

The filmmaker, who was asked about the backlash that the movie poster has received for looking - as one commented, "like it was made by an intern" - said that the bad design was intentional so that audiences will pay attention to the film.

"We want Malaysians to watch and talk about the film. When such a poster is released, maybe one or two people will praise it, but there will be many others waiting to criticise. So, we are using reverse psychology on them," he said.

Razak stated that the producers have already planned to release a new poster that will be meeting people's expectation.

"KRU Studios and Primeworks Studios have already been informed that a new poster will be released. So the viral one is just a bait or a promotional gimmick," he said.

It is noted that the movie, which is set to be released on 25 December, has already been slammed earlier after releasing its first teaser.

Many fans, who were expecting a much better special effects following the 2008 film, were frustrated to see the mermaid costumes worn by lead actress Anna Jobling that they deemed cheap and unrealistic.
