30 Jul - Eddie Murphy recently revealed that his "Shrek" character Donkey will have its own movie.

The comedian let it slip to Screenrant when asked about "Shrek 5" while promoting his new movie, "The Pickup", saying that the voice work for "Donkey" will begin in September.

"We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing 'Shrek'. We start in September on Donkey. We're doing a Donkey one, and that'll [be released] three years from now," he said.

Murphy continued, "But we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September."

The actor also likened the project to "Puss in Boots" spinoffs, saying that it will be a little story about the loudmouthed Shrek sidekick's family life with his dragon wife and kids.

"They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September," he added.

DreamWorks has made no comments about the project.
