25 Aug - Fan Bingbing has recently been conferred the title of Datuk Kehormat, an honorary Datukship for her service as Melaka ambassador in Malaysia.

The event, which was held at Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, was in conjunction of Tun Dr. Mohd Ali Rustam, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka.

"Fan Bingbing has introduced Melaka to the world, particularly in China. Her efforts have directly contributed to the increase in tourist arrivals from China," said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

The actress, who was appointed as the state's Tourism Friendship Ambassador in May 2024, helped increased tourism in Melaka from China of about 400,000.

She also took to social media to express her elation, writing, "Thank you, Malaysia, thank you, Melaka! This place is truly my blessed place! I look forward to many more stories with Melaka... Keep it up, Ms. Fan! They say every step counts; there's no wasted journey in life..."

She joins the likes of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan, who were previously honoured for promoting Malaysian tourism.
