13 May - The upcoming "Lord of the Rings" film, "The Hunt for Gollum" is set for release on 17 December 2027.

The news was announced by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema on 8 May, in addition to the announcement of a new "Evil Dead" movie to be released in July 2026.

"The Hunt for Gollum" is directed by Andy Serkis, who played the character in the original trilogy, as well as the 2012's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".

The film is also produced by "LOTR" director Peter Jackson alongside the trilogy's team Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who also penned the script.

It was back in May 2024 that Warner Bros and New Line announced that they will be producing two new "LOTR" films from Jackson, Walsh and Boyens.
